Alterations

Fidencia Dressmaking - Midland Park
My flower girl and jr bridesmaid wanted specific dresses that we couldn't find and we gave her a picture and the material and she made gorgeous dresses. She also did the alterations on the MOB and other peoples outfits and did a great job. ~ Lovemuffine1125

Lena Tailoring - Glen Rock
I bought my dress at DB but everything else was left up to Lena! She did my dress, my mom's and my BM's. She is amazing!!! ~ Deener713

Nesrin
She was a pleasure to work with and her work was great. My bustle was gorgeous and she was really affordable.    ~ shelene.suefert

Nesrin was recommend by fellow knottie Jenn/Designgirl.  I am so glad I went to her.  She is very talented.  She took my plain shrug and transformed it into something beautiful! My dress came with detachable cap sleeves which I wasn't using.  She carefully pulled the beading off of those and then hand sewed them on the shrug!  It really made the dress!  Nesrin put me at ease right away and I will definately go back if I ever need another dress altered.  Her charges are ridiculously reasonable.  Since she works from home I only have her home phone and I don't want to post that.  Page me on the NNJ board or email me moscatelloc @ hotmail for her info. ~ moscatelloc

Sew n Sew Bridal
Working with them was great. They were nice and all my fittings went well. Then the day before the wedding I'm looking at the dress and noticed a major change wasn't made. Since my bustle was so elaborate she used color coded ribbons. She used a light pink ribbon for one which could been seen through the dress and she was supposed to switch it for a lighter color. The sales woman couldn't get a hold of the alterations girl so my mom ended up sewing in new ribbons. Then the day of, my bustle just didn't hold. It kept falling out and people kept tripping over it. She did a great job on the other parts of my dress, it was just the bustle that was a major pain. ~ CM1206

Sew and Show - Garwood
The receptionist was a little harsh to do with (yelling at me not to lose weight, etc) but the alterations lady Maria was a miracle worker! As you can see my dress was SUPER intricate with all the lace and beading and she worked wonders. Alterations ended up costing more than she quoted me and a day before my wedding I wasn't about to start a fight but that's the only reason she didn't get an A. ~ teamAandE

Sewing by Susan - West Milford

Susanna's Bridal - Hoboken
I can not even grade her because she was above and beyond amazing. She is so incredibly talented and really did a fantastic job on my dress. On top of that she practically remade my BM's dress one day before the wedding and for only $70. She is a gem to work with. I had tons of beading and lace applique and not only did she have to take the bodice in but she had to take the length up as well. She really knows what she is doing and takes pride in her work. Hands down I would recommend her any day of the week. If you want someone who really knows what they are doing and is good at it, CONTACT SUSANNA!!!!! ~ thirdeyeview

Bakeries

Cake Diva - Hoboken

Carlo's Bakery

Palermo's Bakery
I worked with Joanne and the cake was everything I dreamed of . I was so happy when the venue asked her to give me a 4th tier. It tasted amazing! ~ jen629

Paulie was so sweet and great to work with. The cake tasted great and was exactly what we wanted. They were reasonable with price also when we wanted a fondant bow for our cake topper. I would definitely use them again. ~ melissa721

Excellent - came out exactly how I asked them to do it. ~ Lori&Peter

Pink Cake Box

Le Petit Gateau
Cake was nice. It was pretty accurate to what I described. The one bite I had of it was good. ~ Jerzee

Wow how they messed my cake up!! We met with them in Feb and gave them an exact picture of what we wanted for our cake. Well the cake we got did not look like that. It was missing two colors on the design, they had red flowers and i had no red in my color scheme. The bow on my cake top was suppossed to cascade down the cake like a ribbon and it didnt and i even paid extra for it. My cake was suppossed to be both yellow and choc, instead it was only yellow. The only thing they got right was the fillings and the coral color of the ribbon on top. I was so upset i wanted to cry. I left a nice message for them today and will request my money back. ~ shelene.suefert

They did the grooms cake and it was awesome! The only thing is they didn't have a great way for my mom to bring it to the Meadow Wood the night before and that stressed her out. As a bakery they need to have a better way to transfer the cake. They also did my shower cake and it was great! So overall we were very happy and the cakes looked and tasted great. ~ Deener713

Our wedding cake was exactly what we wanted- it was perfect. But this is not why they get the A+. The grooms cake that they made for my FI was UNBELIEVABLE! He loves to go fishing and I had the bakery create a striped bass fish- it looked so realistic that my DH didn't realize what it was at first! They went above and beyond to make that cake look as incredible as it did! ~ misskris927

I got my wedding cake through Seasons but this is the cake place they work with and makes their wedding cakes. The cake turned out gorgous and was delicious as well. It was exactly what I asked for and the one professional picture I saw of it looked so amazing as it did in real life. I did fresh flowers on it from my florist and I think that added a nice finishing touch. The cake was white buttercream icing with light pink detail. The cake inside was yellow and chocolate with strawberries and whip cream filling. It was yummers and I would recommend Le Petit Gateau if your venue doesnt offer cake in their package and/or you need a cake for another reason! ~ Dancer2873

Normandie Bakery
We didn’t get to choose the bakery that made our cake, it was included with our package and this is who BCC uses. But, I must say it was fantastic!  The cake was beautiful (matched the picture I gave them exactly) and tasted so good!  Highly Recommend. ~ 30may09bride

I used Melissa to address our wedding invitations, and was so happy with the results.  I thought her prices were reasonable, her turn around time was great, and her work made our invites look that much better!  Recommend ~ 30may09bride

Marilyn Bazarewsky

Michele Clark (Calligraphy by Michele)

I found her on this board and couldn't have been happier. Michele is so prompt and professional and her prices are very reasonable. I had her do my invitations, table cards and bridal party gift tags. People absolutely raved about her work. Definitely book her way in advance as she deserves her popularity!  ~ Strunella

Ceremony and Cocktail Hour Musicians

Arnie Abrams - Pianist
I was a very untraditional bride when it came to ceremony music. Our ceremony music was:
Bridal  Party Processional:  "All I Ask of You" from Phantom of the Opera
Bridal Processional:
"She's Got a Way" by Billy Joel
Unity Candle:
"What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
Recessional:
"All You Need is Love" by The Beatles

While Arnie was able to play all these pieces perfectly, he did not get to the ceremony location until 5:45, and our guests began arriving at 5:30. Our ceremony was slated to start at 6:00, and I was under the impression that he would play around 30 minutes of music before the ceremony. ~ Bashert628

We originally hired Arnie almost a year ago to play the piano at our cocktail hour, and about a month before the wedding, he had to cancel due to some family emergency, but gave us the 2 other musicians to choose between as a replacement or get our deposit back.  We chose Tara (Buzash) and were happy with our decision.  She arrived time, played the entire cocktail hour, and our guests enjoyed the background music.  Recommend. ~ 30may09bride

City Winds Trio
They did great! I loved what i heard which was limited because i missed them during cocktail hour. But my guests seemed to love it and i heard good things. Cant wait to hear them on my wedding video. ~ shelene.suefert

Elegant Ensembles

Koka Steel Drum Band - Eatontown
Koka is amazing! They aren't just steel drums - they have a flutist, guitarist, keyboardist, and they sang. The are really lively and so much fun. They added a special touch to our wedding and they were very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them ~ Bashert628

Music Moment
They provided the ceremony music and cocktail hour music. It was nice and they did a great job. ~ Deener713

Royal Strings
Stephen is a pleasure to work with. Very responsive. I've gotten lots of great feedback on how nicely their music filled the room. Stephen and the other musician went out of their way to come to marv and I and congratulate and thank us after the ceremony and even send us a nice thank you note within a week of the wedding. ~ Sinthya

Salut D'Amour
Sue is super nice and their prices are very fair. She always wrote back quickly and she was the one that contacted us to confirm all the plans (I love when vendors do this). She did a great job playing and our friends loved them. IMO, her CD does not do them justice. We did not want to pay all that money for a trio, so having a duet was perfect for our 75 person wedding! ~ Isabella

Dance Lessons

Ann-Marie of Wedding Day Dance - NYC
Anne-Marie was wonderful! Neither of us are dancers in the technical sense of the word and she made us look presentable. We did not practice as much as we should have or it would have been better, but I definitely recommend her. ~ cknud112

Ann-Marie is patient and kind. She is the best teacher ever! After 8 private lessons we did a dance that our guests raved about. She has a very technical way to teach and DH really liked working with her. We actually REALLY enjoyed our dance lessons and looked forward to them. Highly recommend her for a dance that will WOW your guests. ~ teamAandE

Arthur Murray Dance Studio - Kenilworth

Our instructor, Lisa, was great. She got us into shape in 6 lessons and the guests were shocked at how sweet and romantic our first dance was. If you have the time I would suggest getting parents dance lessons also. My dad and I did the junior high "hold and sway". ~ aspeckles

Battista Dance Studio - Hackensack

Brandis Dance - Edison

Continental Dance - Bloomfield

Dance Manhattan
The positives: We ADORE our dance instructor, Ed Britten. HE gets an A+++. I would highly recommend him any day, any time, anywhere. He's the only reason we stuck with this dance school. In fact, Eric & I love him so much we are/were considering inviting him to the wedding and are considering continuing lessons with him after the wedding, just for fun. The negatives: The school is overcrowded and often double-books rooms for the "private lessons," so you end up with competing music from the other couple and unless you concentrate REALLY well, you're losing half your time. Also, they're the most disorganized bunch I've ever seen in my life, and while some of the employees are terrific, others are downright terrible. They lost one week's reservation because they booked it under Eric's name, and then instead of believing that I had a statement showing the payment for that week, the girl argued with me that it could have been from a prior week. Plus, when it occurred to me that the lesson might have been booked under Eric's name, I tried to have her check, but she wouldn't even listen or let me tell her what his name was to see. I got nasty, and the next thing I knew the owner was calling me to apologize and check up on what had happened. It was solved, but not until I'd spent an hour or more of my work time fighting with them. ~ LarissaAnn

DOCs & Wedding Planners

Colorblind Productions
Dianne is an absolute godsend.  She helped me find my vintage gown, my invitations, designed my flowers and centerpieces, suggested a latin summer motif (guyaberas, linen pants with cigars for the groom and ushers, which my husband LOVED) and coordinated my entire day, she even delivered me to my wedding. I practically did nothing but show up looking pretty. The whole day went smoothly, she did a beautiful job with the small budget we had, everyone had a lovely time and the music was so hot, I trashed my gown dancing. Professional, VERY organized, extremely punctual and not one detail missed. I recommend them to everyone who asks. ~ Miggy

Dolores from All About the Day

She did an ok job. I hardly saw her at her at the reception. At the church the runner was messy and the videog had to tell her to take it out. she should've been on top of it. I hired her b.c she was the least expensive person we interviewed. ~ oby

For Your Event Planning

Koru Event Design

Lavish Occassions - Staten Island
I worked with both Marissa and Lisa....Lisa was with me day of and through out the end. Marissa was with me in the beginning and helped here and there through out the rest. They were great throughout the whole process. I had done most of the planning so I need help fine tuning everything and that day, because I am usually a high stress person. The schedule Lisa made for me was so helpful and helped me stay on schedule the whole day. I had a few things go wrong and I have to say that I handled it with stride and I have Lisa to thank because without her I probably would have freaked out about those things. Lisa helped trouble shoot with anything that did go wrong so it was a stress off my back and I was able to enjoy the day. Lisa is the sweetest most helpful person and I really enjoyed working with her and emailing back and forth. It was always a pleasure and I am so glad I had that extra help that day and had piece of mind for majority of the day, which is more than I could have asked for! ~ Dancer2873

Madison Affairs

Gisselle is a friend who has been an events planner for a big company for years and finally decided to do events planning on her own. She helped me plan the entire wedding from start to finish. She managed my budget (and kept me on track), put a schedule together of all the items that had to get booked and done, provided her creativity to help put somewhat of a theme together and much more. I think I was the most calm, stress free bride in the world because of all the help I got from her. She helped me with everything from helping book all my vendors to putting the placecard trees together the night b/f the wedding. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding planner and/or DOC. PSA – since she started her own business she’s doing DOC for a very cheap price ~ N&W09

HOLY COW IS THIS LADY A GEM!!!! She went WAY above and beyond her duties and was incredibly kind when her bags were accidentally brought to the hotel after the wedding. Her keys to her car were in the bag at the hotel while she was at the Manor and I felt absolutely awful about the mix up. She was so great and I know she had to be just exhausted by then. She really is quite amazing. I couldn't have done any of it without her and I really do believe she is an angel incarnate! It would serve you well to contact her if you need a DOC. ~ thirdeyeview

Pampered Bride Weddings
We used Jenny for a DOC (actually we were her very last DOC client ever). She was always there to answer any questions I had or to give me a vendor recommendation. With Jenny being a soon to be mom, on the day of I had 3 DOCs working with me. Jenny came to my house that morning and she kept me calm and helped when my timing wasn't running too smoothly. Then Aimee and Marissa took over for the rest of the day. Aimee always made sure that I was happy and had something to drink. She was there to make sure the ballroom was set up correctly and everything was executed the way I wanted it. She's a doll and I loved having her around. She stayed all the way through the night and she was also there to help run the rehearsal. I didn't have one stress that day because I knew my wedding was in good hands and I was more than well taken care of. I'm not sure I could have gone through the day without them. ~ CM1206

Natasha from Prima Events
Natasha has been amazing from the beginning. Her and her sister Stephanie really took a lot of stress off of my plate. She even came up with a great Idea for my favors homemade limoncello! Yummy!...she recommended me to The fussy Designer for my bottle labels and they were amazing. She had unlimited contact with me via email and phone whenever I needed it and I am so happy I invested the money. At the last week she also made me placecards even though I was willing to use the ones the hall gave us... and they came out great! Highly recommend them ~ jen629

I love my DOC Natasha that I hired from Prima events . She is so great to work with and has really helped me keep my sanity. She even suggested a great favor and now I am making homemade limoncello  which I am so excited for! She has made all my timelines  and has all my bridal party and vendor info so that I have nothing to worry about when the big day is here. She emails me with constant updates and meets me whenever I may have a meltdown. She helped me find The Fussy Designer to help make labels for my limoncello bottles which I definitely did not have time to do.

I would highly recommend them.   I know I could not have done this myself. She truly has come through for me in everyway possible. You get 2 DOC's with the price and when I tell you unlimited communication I mean it. I know some DOCs contact you  at the beginning and then at the end  and anything in the middle is extra but not with them.I must harass her  at least   20 times a day and she will drop what she is doing to call me,email me or IM me to solve my problems. I know alot of people maybe shy away from a DOC because they may not think it is worth the money or they think its not affordable but for that piece of mind of knowing I dont have to worry about anything that day is SO worth it! Even if you aren't sure contact them because my FI didnt think we needed one and now that he sees how much less stressed I have been he is ecstatic that I did ~ Jen629

Stressless Events
Donna was hired about 3 months before the wedding to help with finishing up all of the ideas we had set into motion and be the DOC. Donna was essentially my rep after getting to know my style and what the vision was for the wedding and she went ahead and did that task wonderfully even taken care of my neurotic breaks and making sure things went perfectly. She even helped coordinate my shower as well as the day after brunch with my family. In addition to finding a makeup artist for the day of who did a great job!!! I would highly recommend her for any events you have in mind. ~ princet1

Favors

Candy Warehouse
I ordered a ton of candy as our other favor and I thought all of it tasted fresh and as it should. My only gripe is that they should have packed it in more boxes it came in one huge box and one smaller box. Well the bigger box was ripping bc there was so much candy in it and it was so heavy, which caused it to be hard to lift or move around. Some of the chocolate pretzels were broken since the box was so heavy and I am sure ups was just lugging and throwing it around, as well as some of the bags or containers ripped or opened. It wasn't a big damper on it and I was under a time crunch since another online candy place had scammed me, so candy warehouse really pulled through for me and gave me what I needed. ~ Dancer2873

Hometown Candy
So I ordered from hometown because it was the best price but lets just say they scammed me. Charged my credit card and never shipped the product. They didnt return my calls or emails. After the fact I read a candy blog where someone else had the same experience. Because of hometown candy I had to rush order the other candy I ordered from the other candy site which costed me so much more than was worth it! Hometown candy is also linked to www.jordonalmond.com total ripoff BUYER BEWARE!!! ~ Dancer2873

Krouse's Candy
Chocolate letter "D" favors. They were amazing to work with. They loved my idea, thought it was so creative and even special ordered the molds. Gave me a great price and wrapped and tied each wonderfully. They even threw in a few extra at no charge! ~ misskris927

Personalwine.com
We ordered red and white mini wine bottles with a personalized label that matched our invitations, menus, décor, etc. They were excellent to work with and very timely. The only negative is that I thought the font was a little too small on the label. They sent me a proof to approve, but I couldn't really tell how small the font was.Probably my fault for not asking for it in the actual size, but I still thought they could have used a slightly larger font so it would have been easier to read. I recommend them though, they were great! ~cknud112

Rolling Pin Productions

One word: YUMMY! I wanted cookie favors with our last name initial and after much research, decided on Rolling Pin. Susan was wonderful to work with and SOOOO many guests said they were the BEST cookies they had ever had. Really delicious. We had a little snafu with delivery, but it all worked out in the end. The packaging was so nice with pretty little bows...definitely a much-loved treat on the tables.  ~ Strunella

Photobooths

Festive Fotobooths  ballpark ≈ $1200

MME Entertainment

NJ Photobooths

NYC Photobooth
This was a big hit, everyone really enjoyed it.Our scrapbook is wonderful and so much fun to look at.The attendant was a little late due to traffic (theme of our wedding), so the BP didn't have a chance to use it in the beginning as planned, but he was set up and ready to go at the start of the reception, which is what really mattered. It was so much fun and the attendant was very helpful and nice. ~ cknud112

PA Party Pix ballpark ≈ $1100 (includes: 5 hrs & double prints)

Partybooths.com  ballpark ≈ $1195 (includes: 6 hrs)
This was one of my last minute decisions, I always loved photobooths as a kid and teenager but didnt know if I had the money for it at my wedding, but party booths had a really awesome price, so last minute I just went for it! Majority of the guests loved the photobooth and took fun pictures in it, even the older guests. Looking at the pictures online was so great there were some funny pics. I can't wait to receive my disc of all the photos of that night. the pictures were good quality, printed out right there, and they put the sticker on the back to give the link and password to view them online. They wrote whatever I wanted on the bottom which was my and my hubby's name and our wedding date. I was also able to pick whatever color I wanted as the background. Which I picked pink because that was one of my wedding colors. They called me twice before the wedding to go over details and the person manning the booth that night called to introduce herself before the wedding. She was on time and set up fast, overall I think it was a big hit and it was one of my best decisions for the reception fun! ~ Dancer2873

Photo Illusion Photobooth
I am so glad I came on here and got the idea to have a photo booth! I was so much fun and they were great priced. We had an attendant there to run it and it looked like a real photo booth, not just a curtain around in a circle. And it was a lot better priced than the fake ones. I highly recommend getting one. The guests got one strip and we got the other. That is what we used as our favor. 1-800-671-8806 ~ Deener713

SR Photographers (Photostation) - North Brunswick
He was one of the best vendors prior to with communication. He would always get back to me ASAP. Day of I didn't know he was there!!! Seriously, the best man couldn't find him to deliver final payment so I assumed he just didn't show. I didn't care and brushed it off. THEN at the end of the evening I saw everyone holding these great pictures in black folios and they were all raving. The guests loved the photos he took and many people said this is the best pic they%2ther. That is what we used as our favor. 1-800-671-8806 ~ teamAandE

JB Lighting
Lighting was one of the things that we splurged on and glad we did. It made the room so beautiful and gave the room an elegant feel to it. Jim was very nice and worked with our budget. He's a little hard to reach at times but usually returns emails a few days later. ~ oby

To our first meeting Jim came early and set up a lighting demo at the Rockleigh. He managed to deal with my demanding mother and create the perfect vision for the day. Day of, it wasn't Jim working but someone else and I didn't expect that. Regardless, IMO, our lighting was freaking amazing. I seriously think lighting makes the event and is worth every penny. A few of the women told me they thought they were in a fairytale room and it was so magical. You can see how it looked in the pics. ~ teamAandE

Travel Agents

Elise @ Beach Bum Vacations

Irene @ Travel Dreams
When it came to honeymoon planning, I was not easy to deal with. I was very indecisive and Irene was very accommodating in helping me explore the multiple options I had in mind. When I booked my HM and decided to change it, Irene made the change within a couple days. I would definitely use Irene for future vacation planning. ~ Jerzee

She was great in giving us the best deal for the trip of a lifetime. Irene is super patient and deserves an award for dealing with DH and I, we are sooo annoying! I would rec her for any honeymoon/trip booking. ~ teamAandE

Aisle Walk With You- Personalized aisle runners
Arlene did the table runner for my reception and it was so beautiful. She came up with the design herself and it really was amazing. Seeing it painted on the runner when it got there was just amazing, I was so happy that I decided to add thes detail to my reception and have it on my sweetheart table.....it made it that much more beautiful! Arlene was responsive with emails and got my runner to me with more than enough time for the wedding and for the cost it couldnt be bit! Arlene is great at what she does and if you are thinking of getting a personalized runner, parasol, table runner, etc. she is the best choice! ~ Dancer2873

Blue Nile
Blue Nile is where my hubby got my engagement ring and we got our wedding rings. My Enagement ring is beautiful its a round solitare with channel set diamonds on each side of the band. As for the wedding ring I got 5 round diamonds prong set. It's not a matching set but I love how the diamonds sparkle all together and the both were in great condition the white gold part of the bands and the diamonds were a great quality. I look at them every day! hubby's band was a platinum brushed band 4 mm and that was just what we wanted as well! I couldnt be happier with our wedding day jewelery. I know you might be skeptical ordering your jewelery online but there hasnt been a time that I was disappointed with anything I ordered and I have ordered non wedding related jewelery from them! ~ Dancer2873

My Doc recommended I take my invites here to get printed and I dropped them off on a Friday and they were ready on Monday and done perfectly. Also being a big dork I forgot reception cards and he did them overnight for me so I could get them out on time ~ jen629

Nashville Wraps
- OOT bags

Paper and More - Cardstock, envelopes, vellum paper, etc.
I just had to RAVE about this company. I ordered samples of 4 sheets of linen cardstock and metallic cardstock. It came in 3 business days. I just placed an order for more because the samples I picked were exactly what I needed. The swatches on the screen are pretty close to what you actually get. Oh and regular shipping was only $3.99 for 200 sheets of paper! ~ loralei24

Vistaprint - Printing
Just got one of my Vistaprint orders today (well ahead of schedule for slow shipping). I printed Accommodations cards to go with our STDs and upgraded to linen paper. The printing and paper quality were really good! I was expecting it to be not so great...I work in publishing so I tend to be more critical with that stuff.  The mini-rant comes on their business cards...I did Photoshare cards on those. The standard paper is pretty crappy and they did a horrible job cutting them, and not even a consistently horrible job because they vary from top of the stack to the bottom. But being that they were free, and they're just photoshare cards, I don't really care. But I'd maybe change to the glossy finish or linen next time and eliminate any borders/designs that would make it look "off" if they cut it poorly. ~ melissa82

From vistaprint.com, we ordered our magnet Save-the-Dates, our Accommodations Card inserts, and our photoshare cards. I've never had a bad experience with their products, not once. Every single thing was free, except for uploading the photo of myself and Eric for the Save-the-Dates and shipping. Get on their mailing list and you get constant e-mails for free ordering. Note: If you're going to use them, be careful not to click on any of the deals unless you actually want them. Once you get the swing of things, it's easy to avoid, but the unsuspecting first-time shopper will often end up saying "yes" to something accidentally. Definitely check your cart while checking out! ~ LarissaAnn
