Michelle and Jenn work at the Art of Hair however, I contracted them to do our hair from the wedding. Michelle has cut my DH’s hair since she was in beauty school. I asked Michelle during my hair trial how much she would charge the other girls. She said for short/thin hair it would be $50 for an up do and for long/thick hair about $75. They charged every bridesmaid $75 the day of. I was a bit annoyed and felt bad for the girls with short/thin hair. But, the end result was worth it…….no complaints and great hair for all……held up the entire day! ~ Heater020780

Tricia was great. I'm not one to wear a lot of makeup so when I went on two trials where they piled it on and insisted that I had to wear a lot, I was giving up! Tricia was recommended and when she came for the trial she listened to what I wanted and did it! The day of the wedding she was introduced to a house full of out of towners who all of a sudden wanted their makeup done. She added them on too with no problem staying much longer than expected! ~ mena

Dona Massa was great from the start. She was awesome for my trial, she was awesome when she did my make up for my bachelorette party & she was awesome day of! She did exactly what I asked for each time. She has a great personality and is easy to talk to. 5 other girls and then me had their makeup done by dona day of, and I have to say we all looked stunning that day! I couldnt be happier with what dona did for all of us! My mom also had a nasty bruise on her arm that was so visiable and dona saved the day by covering it up and making it non existent. Our make up lasted all day and it was a hot that day and I am a sweater! So its a miracle that my make up lasted, from like 11am till 1am, with me sweating like a pig in the 93 degree weather. It was all because of dona that we all looked amazing that day and that it lasted from start to finish and that I felt like a princess the whole day! ~ Dancer2873

Cristina was great to work with.My trial went really well but day of was even better.All of my girls and mom loved what she did, so much so I had one bridesmaid who was not going to get her makeup done but after seeing Cristina start on the first bridesmaid she decided to go for it. ~ caketime

I tend to get REALLY shiny, but it was very minimal and easily addressed with those blotter things. Not ONE pimple after (I tend to break out after wearing lots of makeup especially sweating the way I was). She also did 3 of my girls and my mom and everyone loved her. She was exactly on time and kept us perfectly on schedule, even making up some time when one girl took longer than expected. ~ Sinthya

She is from the MAC counter at Nordstrom and was recommended to be by a former bride. I had a trial with her, wasn't too sure if I liked it, went back and LOVED it. I have to admit, although I was happy with my second trial, I was worried how it would turn out that day. Evelyn really did exceed my expectations. I'm a lip gloss and some mascara type of girl-so wearing a lot of makeup is not me. She made me look so naturally beautiful that day (not being conceded or anything). All of my girls were very happy, including the moms, and she did a wonderful job. ~ misskris927

Many of you know my dilema with m/u artist just days before the wedding. Someone here recommended Evelyn Abanto but she wasnt available so she recommeded Felicia. She did an amazing job. She was so patient with me b/c she had to come back at night to change my makeup when i changed outfits and had to wait since we were running a little behind schedule. I had a trial with another M/U artist before meeting Felicia and it was so bad. She did airbrush and it was coming off on things, my hands, when i got home my hubby's first words were "wtf" Felicia did regular makeup at the trial and wed day and my hubby loooved how i looked. ~ oby

Adrianne did hair, and her friend Michelle did make-up for me, my girls, and my Mom. My hair came out awesome, and it – along with the makeup- stayed all night. The girls were less satisfied with the hair – but they offered little guidance on what they wanted, so I think that was some of the problem. One girl's hair started falling out before the ceremony, and they were a little late, which is why they’re getting a B+ from me. ~ Kate&Mark

She has been my manicurist for about a year, but I have been going to her salon since college so I have known her for awhile. This was a big thing for me cause I knew having a familiar face would help me stay calm. Adrianne has really become a friend throughout the year. She just got engaged in July and we would talk weddings at each nail appointment! She is just getting into the wedding area so she is very affordable... for now. :) She was very patient with me too… I think I did 5 trials total cause I could not decide what I liked. Finally, finally I found one I liked. The day of she showed up early, with a friend and they were very friendly and efficient in the times given. We had a lot of fun together! She did my hair, my makeup and my bridesmaids hair, which all looked great! Biggest thing for me was makeup b/c I was insecure about my skin and she covered it up beautifully so I felt confident all day long. ~ moscatelloc

I am using Gary Politano of Wedding Belles for my wedding day makeup. The trial went well. Gary uses Mac makeup and does a wonderful job. I had two people at my trial (my Mom and a friend) and they both thought I looked wonderful. When I wanted to make a change to the lip & eye color, Gary happily obliged and did not take the request personally. (It was too dramatic for my personal taste, but looked pretty.) He is personable and friendly. Gary will be coming to my hotel to do my makeup on the day of the wedding ~ juicyblonde82

Alexa did a great job.Everyone looked gorgeous and the make-up lasted all night.She did my make-up, 7 BMs, MOB, and MOG.She showed up on time and got right to work.I was especially pleased with my make-up, I had made changes from my trial and she listened and did exactly what I wanted.She did several different looks and worked with many different skin types and everyone looked so beautiful.She is a talker and is high energy, so if you are okay with that then I highly recommend her.She is very talented. ~ cknud112

Jillyan Scarpa is the owner of Skin Bar and Paint. I LOVED my trial with her & booked her. She did exactly what I wanted. Due to a death in the family a day or two before my wedding, she wasn't able to do my/the bridal party's makeup. She contacted me immediately & asked if it would be acceptable to send her associate/colleague
(also yrs of experience & MAC trained, like Jillyan, but now freelance) to do makeup. I had met Johanna Hale when I went for my trial; I had no probelm trusting that with Jillyan's instructions & her own creative eye, everyone would look great. We did :p. Johanna is a perfectionist & also a calm,down-to-earth person who actually helped contain the chaos in the hotel suite as we were getting ready, When my BMs appeared to be slacking a little, Johanna stopppoed doing my mom's makeup for a second & announced, "Okay, SOMEONE needs to help Jamie into her dress NOW." VERY cool person, excellent makeup artist. I don't think you coud go wrong with either Jillyan or Johanna. ~ Jaytee501

As you know, I had MANY a trial (and tribulation) when it came to my hair. I even ended up chopping a significant about before the wedding, just for peace of mind that the stylist would have an easier time with it. Kelly was very sweet. I showed her some inspiration pics at the trial and she worked with a half friz, half straight head of hair (my blow drier died mid straightening). The day of, I brought her different inspiration pics based on what she did at the trial (don't have any trial pics, never took any). Anywho, she did a great job, pinned the hell out my hair and I loved what she did day of. Some curls still fell a little as the night wore on, but I'm an animal on the dance floor, I'd have to wear a helmet for it not to have moved at all. I love that she took her time to make sure it was really perfect before letting me walk out of the salon (took 1.5 hours). ~Sinthya

Kelly did an amazing job! I’m not a person who wears a lot of makeup so I knew getting my makeup done was going to be hard. She was so nice to work with me and have numerous trials until we got exactly what I was looking for. I LOVED my hair and makeup. All of my bridesmaids, my mom, and my grandma were gorgeous. The only reason I am giving them a B+ is because my stylist put my veil in UPSIDE DOWN, so every time someone hugged me or when I danced it kept getting pulled out. My mom had to fix it after my father-daughter dance and it felt much better. However, many of my ceremony pictures were taken from behind and you can see the comb of the veil sticking out. ~ Bashert628

What a great place! The owner Gladys did my trial and hair the day of. I originally thought I’d have to pay $100 and up for my wedding day hair, but not here! She did exactly what I wanted with my hair and I couldn’t have been happier. I got my hair done at 10AM and it stayed until 11:30PM. I paid $65 for my hair (and I have very long hair) and my BM’s paid between $50-$60 (depending on their length). All my BM’s got their hair done here and everyone was very happy. ~ alyssa44

I am really disappointed to have to give Magda anything but an A since her work on hair was very nice. My hair lasted most of the night and so did the girls but unfortunately, her attitude and demeanor to the bridesmaids and especially my mother on the wedding day was unacceptable. I was in tears because my mom hated her hair and Magda was being really harsh to her. She really shouldn't speak to her clients like that. She was great to me, but my mom also matters. She was very snippy and all of my bridesmaids commented on her attitude. I would not recommend having her around the morning of your wedding day, there are other people that do great work. Though she did a very nice job on all our hair and eventually re-did my mom's hair after even the photographer commented that it was not "done" enough. ~ teamAandE

Billy at Magic Cuts is my regular hairdresser; he does my cut & color. The week before the wedding, I went to him for that.He doesn't do wedding 'dos, so I used his employee Doreen. She did an amazing job. She's very nice, a lot of fun, and was great. I paid her a little extra to come to my house in the early morning before she went to the salon for her regularly scheduled day. I was very happy with how my hair looked, and she was great about changing it up from the trial and achieving what I wanted. ~ LarissaAnn

I have 2 friends who have used Mary for their wedding make-up and both of them loved her, so I booked her for my wedding. I was so happy with her the day of the wedding. She showed up early, was completely prepared, and such a doll to have around. She did make-up for me, my mother, my MOH, and one BM, and we all looked fantastic! She stayed with us till after the ceremony to do touch-ups before the formal portraits. She is pricier than other make-up artists that I have heard of on this board, but I think she is worth every penny! And the make-up stayed put all day and night. Highly Recommend ~ 30may09bride

Hair and make-up. I should let my FI write this section. I'm biased, but my FI looked better than I could ever imagine when I saw her walking down the isle. It wasn't cheap, but one of my friends parents (that was baby sitting at hotel) saw us arrive after the reception and said "wow she looks like she could be just leaving for the wedding" as in....everything looks like it was just done. I think she got airbrush, and I guess by that comment you can say, it lasted! ~ USER876

All of our hair came out great, and stayed put all day. I have very heavy thick hair and Michelle had no problems making it look great! She put it all up, and it stayed put all night, I was amazed. I left the hair/makeup vendor selection to the last minute and she was one of the few people who called/emailed back who was actually available. I went for a trial and just really liked her; she is incredibly sweet. On the morning of the wedding, she was a great, calming presence and I loved how everything turned out. I wish I'd reapplied my lipstick more often throughout the reception, though, but that's not her fault (and I was honestly having way too much fun to care, anyway). She's not necessarily a budget vendor, but I really think she was worth every penny. She has done several Indian brides, too, btw. ~ phru phru
I got really lucky because I had contacted Michelle over a year out and she was booked but about 4 months out I contacted her again and she was available due to a cancelation so I was really happy. Michelle Loconte did my hair perfect day of and did 5 other girls in my wedding, my mom, my sister(moh), and 2 other bridesmaids. All our hair turned out great and lasted all day. Michelle had us done in time and was sweet the whole time. She made my moms ultra thin hair look so full and volumunous! My hair didnt budge as well as the three other girls along with me that did updo's and we had such a hot day I was worried we might look like frizzy messes but we so did not! Michelle answered all my emails timely and even trimmed my hair for me last minute for my graduation. Michelle is opening her own hair salon in Nutley, NJ and I am excited for her and cant wait to get my wedding hair cut from her! ~ Dancer2873

Michelle Loconte did my hair perfect day of and did 5 other girls in my wedding, my mom, my sister(moh), and 2 other bridesmaids. All our hair turned out great and lasted all day. Michelle had us done in time and was sweet the whole time. She made my moms ultra thin hair look so full and volumunous! My hair didnt budge as well as the three other girls along with me that did updo's and we had such a hot day I was worried we might look like frizzy messes but we so did not! Michelle answered all my emails timely and even trimmed my hair for me last minute for my graduation. Michelle is opening her own hair salon in Nutley, NJ and I am excited for her and cant wait to get my wedding hair cut from her! ~ Dancer2873

She did the girls hair so nice, everyone was so happy. Even the girls who had no idea what they wanted she suggested what would fit them best. She also cut my mom's hair prior to the wedding. Jenny was recommended to me by knottie vanessapodunk; I've since learned of other knotties who are using/have used her. I was impressed when I called for a trial & the owner said, "You don't need a trial unless you really want one....Jenny can duplicate any photo, she's great." Okay, so the owner was NOT trying to just make more money; I thought that was a great endorsement of Jenny. I did have a trial & booked her on the spot. Jenny is no-nonsense, very careful & precise, I loved just watching her work & the outcome was fantastic the day of the wedding. BMs & my mother also loved their hair. As many of you know, my MIL is a hair and makeup artist, so she did my hair and makeup for the wedding. She did countless trials with me so that we could figure out my exact look for the wedding and it came out beautiful! She also took care of my niece (the flower girl) and my sister (the MOH). They looked awesome, and she even made sure to have a little mini tiara for my niece to wear in her hair. She also arranged for another girl from the salon to do the hair for my bridesmaids. (This was actually ironic because I graduated with the stylist). Everyone looked great and their hairstyles really flattered their faces and looked awesome with their dresses. ~ Mishie

Stacy was wonderful.She is extremely professional and talented.She did my hair, 6 BMs, MOB, and MOG.She did a really good job with everyone, there were all different hair types and styles.Most girls showed her pictures of the look they wanted and she made it work for their hair type.I was 100% pleased with my hair.It was a half down style and it stayed all night.She put extensions in my hair and I loved those as well, they looked amazing and natural.She showed up on time and was just a great person to have around.
